Tips to Rock the New Year with a New You!

If you’re anything like us, you’ve made a New Year’s Resolution at some point in your life. And by some point we mean 2018, 2017, 2016… you get the point. We all come up with grand ideas of how we will better ourselves each year and it’s alright to admit that most of the time we experience failure. Hey, it’s a big change or goal that’s most likely performing a task that you’ve never done before. So whether it’s eating healthy or exercising more, the Wire blog is here to help with tips on rocking the new year with a new you!

You know the old saying, “Rome wasn’t built in a day.”, and neither are your habits. It starts with a mindset and reaching for an attainable goal. Quitting smoking cigarettes cold turkey on January 1st is most likely the hardest way for you to quit, so be realistic about things! Are you going to step outside and run a full mile? Probably not if you’ve never ran before! Create your new habit by starting small. Reach for the smaller weights if you’re pumping iron, or have a glass of wine only on Fridays instead of throughout the weekend.

Track your progress! Each little goal you hit along the way will keep you motivated to keep going. Not hitting your goals? Take a minute to reevaluate your progress, but keep going at the same time! It takes about 20 days for a task to become a habit.

Talk about it with others as you take on 2019. Ran a mile? Flaunt it! It helps to keep to your new habits by telling others and have them expect you to keep it up. Besides, it’s kind of embarrassing to explain to your best friend how your diet didn’t work out and that you’ll try again next time.

What kind of steps are you taking to better yourself in 2019? Share your tips on rocking the new year!
